Train Type: Regional Express

The Austrian Federal Railway has long used the “Eilzug (E)” category for its fast regional trains. Since the December 2006 timetable, all the direct trains and Sprinter (SPR) categories in Austria have used the Regional Express (REX) category.

Regional express trains are faster than regional trains and are not short-haul trains that stop at all stations along the route.
