European intercity trains (EC) operate faster than normal inter-regional trains, with speeds of up to 200 km per hour, second only to German ICE high-speed trains. The European Intercity Train (EC) will travel to the country near the German border and will be operated by the German national railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB). German intercity trains and European intercity trains are frequently used on major routes. Before the signing of the Schengen Agreement, the Eurotown train can conduct a passport check while driving, rather than waiting for other transit trains to stay at the station or ask passengers to leave the vehicle.
