Nîmes Gare

Introduction

Nim Station is located in the middle of the city of Nimes, southeast of the old town. The station is generally northeast-southwest, with entrances and exits on the southeast and northwest sides, with the main entrance opening to the northwest.

Nim Station is a relatively unique station among the traditional French train stations. Unlike traditional side-station or semi-high-rise stations (such as the adjacent Montpellier St. Roc station), Nim Station is an elevated rail station with its station and waiting room below the track and passengers passing the stairs Or the escalator can go to the upper track layer, and the passengers on both sides of the station can freely travel in the same plane by means of the passage in the station. Such elevated stations are more common in modern railway buildings (such as the Xipu Station in the People's Republic of China), which is rare for buildings of the 19th century.

Platform

The train arrived in Nimes via a viaduct across the city, so the platform was above the street. Despite this, the train to and from Nimes is relatively simple.

In the middle of each station there is an elevator that connects the train to the central hall of Nimes. At each end of each platform are stairs and escalators that connect the train to the station building below.

Nîmes is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Cévennes mountains. The estimated population of Nîmes is 151,001 (2016).Dubbed the most Roman city outside Italy, Nîmes has a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire when the city was a regional capital, and home to 50,000–60,000 people. Several famous monuments are in Nîmes, such as the Arena of Nîmes and the Maison Carrée. Because of this, Nîmes is often referred to as the French Rome.
