India

Nagercoil (Tamil: நாகர்கோவில்) is a city in Tamil Nadu, India. It's the southernmost city on the Indian mainland.

Historically, Nagercoil was part of the Travancore state and the second most prominent city in that state, after Trivandrum. Until 10 years after Indian independence, Nagercoil remained part of the Travancore state until it was merged into Tamil Nadu in 1956. Nagercoil Bus Station Boothapandi village, Nagercoil

  • St. Francis Xavier’s Church, in the Kottar locality, was established in 1600 AD. St.Francis Xavier stayed here and the church was built on the land which St. Xavier was awarded by the Venad king.
  • Suchindrum and the Thanumalayan Temple are located about 6 km from the city centre. Pilgrims from far beyond the region borders come here for its Hindu shrines.
