Dharwad or Dharwar city is in northern part of Karnataka state, India. Karnataka state lies in South India.

Dharwad and Hubballi ( Hubli ) are twin cities of Karnataka ( Karunadu ). While Dharwad is educational and cultural centre, Hubbali is commercial hub. These cities have municipal corporation by the name Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC). Dharwar was part of Bombay Presidency during British rule of India. These cities are connected by road, railway ( railroad ), air to major cities of India ( Bharat ). It has climatic features of both Malenadu and Bayaluseemae.

Girmit is the famous local snack made from puffed rice. Local vegetarian meal at Basappa Khanavali in front of District court. Also there are several Khanavali's which serve vegetarian lunch and dinner. There are good vegetarian restaurants which serve South Indian dishes like Upavan restaurant, Kamath, Brindavan, Megha Darshini.
