Laulasmaa

Algae in Lahepere Bay outside Laulasmaa Laulasmaa is a small coastal village in North Estonia. It is 20 km east of Paldiski and about 40 km west of Tallinn. The village got its name from the singing sands on the Laulasmaa beach ("laulev maa" - the land that sings). Laulasmaa has been a well-known holiday place since the 1930s.

The beach with its sandy sea bottom is the biggest attraction of the village.

  • Paldiski – To the west. A coastal and formerly closed military town during the Soviet era.
  • Tallinn – To the east. The capital, and financial and cosmopolitan centre of Estonia, with a medieval Old Town. Beautiful and expensive.
