The Sawbwas of Hsipaw lived here. The last Sawbwa disappeared during the military coup in 1962 and the palace is cared for by his nephew and his nephew's wife. It was possible to visit parts of the palace but this is no longer possible since the nephew, Mr. Donald (Sao Oo Kya), is in prison apparently for saying bad things about the military. Still, do stop by and look at it from the outside. Open for visitors from 3 pm to 5 pm.
