The Dhabba

Glasgow, United Kingdom

Established in 2002, The Dhabba which means 'diner' in Punjabi, prides itself in providing authentic North Indian cuisine. Only the freshest ingredients sourced from Scotland and spices from India are used to prpare the vast array of dishes available. The menu contains dishes that would be commonly found in restaurants throughout Northern India. Six different base sauces are used to create the menu, all of which offer a very distinct flavour and are only suited to particular meat, seafood or vegetable dishes. The Dhabba has never used any food colouring products howver manages to offer naturally colourful and flavoursome food, all of which is created with careful preparation. It was one of the first Indian restaurants in Scotland to recruit high calibre professional chefs from India, some of whom have cooked for presidents, government officials and celebrities on an individual basis in India. The Dhabba specialises in Dum Pukht dishes which originate from the days of the 'Nawabs of India' - rulers of the Northern provinces during the 18th century. 'Dum Pukht' means to 'breathe' and 'to cook'. Ehat makes this cuisine special is that the food, sealed in a dish, is cooked in its own juices and retains all its natural flavours and aromas. Located in the heart of the Merchant City of Glasgow, The Dhabba is very well suited for tourists and business people visiting. It has also welcomed a very regular customer base from people who reside across the city as a whole. The interior has a unique combination of traditional and contemporary design. With a capacity of 100, The Dhabba caters for large groups bookings or intimate dinners with no dress code restrictions.
