Treacle Market

Macclesfield, United Kingdom

Street vendors pour into the centre of Macclesfield on the last Sunday of every month for this event, named for an incident in the town's past when an overturned load of treacle was eagerly scooped up by the local poor. Many interesting goods for sale and idiosyncratic foods for consumption. Local restaurants that are otherwise closed Sundays maintain limited hours for this event, as well.
