Schiff

Zug, Switzerland

People have been dining at what is now the Schiff since 1900, and the Panoramasaal still retains a turn-of-the-century ambience. The lakeside setting means that fresh fish figure prominently on the menu but poultry and meat dishes also get a look in. At the Schiff the chefs draw their inspiration from many different countries, and you will discover dishes such as Mischtchratzerli (a chicken dish from Switzerland) served with white wine risotto, lamb strips from Australia served with homemade pappardelle and Garganelli from Vietnam served with cognac cream sauce, diced tomatoes and fried prawns. In keeping with its location, the restaurant fuses a number of different culinary traditions and in a way that is quite unique. Besides its rooms with turn of the century charm, the Schiff also has secluded spots out on the terrace where you hear the birdsong and the whispering of voices on the lakeside promenade.
