Buckingham Old Gaol

Buckingham, United Kingdom

The purpose-built 1748 prison, built by the famous architect George Gilbert Scott and extended in 1839, now houses the town museum - twelve rooms tracing local history from prehistoric times to the early 20th century, including exhibitions by Bucks Military Museum Trust and a whole room dedicated to local author Flora Thompson (Lark Rise to Candleford). It is also home to the Tourist Information Centre.
