The Our Lady of Solitude Cathedral Also Irapuato Cathedral Is the main Catholic temple in the center of the city of Irapuato in Mexico. It is the mother church of the diocese of the same name, seat of the bishopric. It is located in front of the Plaza Monumental Miguel Hidalgo of the city. The cathedral rank was granted in 2004 by Pope John Paul II.
Work with valuable historical background and jewel of the baroque and the colony in the city. It is not known with precision the date of its construction but according to a census realized by the bishop of Michoacán, that by the year of 1631 already existed like parish.
Like most Baroque Catholic churches, its plant is a Latin cross. Its vault is of corrugated canon of polygonal section as well as its arches formeros and torales polygonal. Its internal amplitude stands out for a work in such a modest locality at that time.
