A little pub history You could write a book about the rich history of this historic Buckinghamshire pub. Originally built on the edge of Amersham Common, it was once known as The Pineapple - possibly a reference to the West Indian fruit plantations of local landowners the Pomeroys. Many simply called it The Monkey, but this reference is far from tropical. In fact, part of the local railway line was known as monkey curve. Then again, local legend has it that the name stuck because the landlord owned a monkey! Either way, it's now "The Pomeroy Inn" once more - a local landmark and a beautiful country inn full of rustic character.
