Witzenhausen

Germany

Witzenhausen is in North Hesse.

Witzenhausen is a little town on the lower Werra river in North Hesse. It is widely known for its extended cherry gardens which surround the town and will give you a favourable view when visiting Witzenhausen during the blossom of cherries. Furthermore, Witzenhausen is known for the department of organic agriculture, which is part of the University of Kassel. This university's department distinguishes Witzenhausen as the smallest town in Germany that has a university. Despite its small size, this town still consists of several smaller villages which are quite picturesque and worth a visit by bicycle or foot.
