Introduction

The Toulouse Matabiu Station, also translated from Toulouse Matabio Station, is a French railway station located in Toulouse, a city in the southwest of France, the most important railway station in the city. The station is located in the southeast of France, northeast of downtown Toulouse. The station is an important railway hub in southwestern France, where three railway lines meet.

The Toulouse Matabiou station was originally built in 1856 and its main station was rebuilt and used in 1905. In 1984, the main station of the Toulouse Matabiou station was included in the French National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Platform

If your train arrives or departs from stations 2-11 (most long-distance express trains use 2-7), you must use stairs to transfer between the train and the exit.

This is because the two passenger passages below the platform are connected to the main building. These devices are currently being renovated, but no escalators have been installed to facilitate access to the train.

The main access method in the station area is the elevator access, but only for those who need mobility assistance and needs to be arranged in advance.

Stations 1, 1a and 1b can enter the main building directly and exit to the street, but stations 1a and 1b are only 3-5 minutes away from the main entrance as they are located at the end of station 1.

The city is on the banks of the River Garonne, 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the Mediterranean Sea, 230 km (143 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean and 680 km (420 mi) from Paris. It is the fourth-largest city in France, with 466,297 inhabitants as of January 2014. In France, Toulouse is called the "Pink City" (La Ville Rose). The University of Toulouse is one of the oldest in Europe (founded in 1229) and, with more than 103,000 students, it is the fourth-largest university campus in France, after the universities of Paris, Lyon and Lille.The air route between Toulouse–Blagnac and Paris Orly is the busiest in Europe, transporting 2.4 million passengers in 2014. According to the rankings of L'Express and Challenges, Toulouse is the most dynamic French city.The city was the capital of the Visigothic Kingdom in the 5th century and the capital of the province of Languedoc in the Late Middle Ages and early modern period (provinces were abolished during the French Revolution), making it the unofficial capital of the cultural region of Occitania (Southern France). It is now the capital of the Occitanie region, the second largest region in Metropolitan France. A city with unique architecture made of pinkish terracotta bricks, which earned it the nickname la Ville Rose ("the Pink City"), Toulouse counts two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Canal du Midi (designated in 1996 and shared with other cities), and the Basilica of St. Sernin, the largest remaining Romanesque building in Europe, designated in 1998 because of its significance to the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route.
