Gothenburg Central

Introduction

Gothenburg Central Station is a public railway station in Gothenburg, Sweden, and the second largest railway station in Sweden. More than 40,000 people use the station every day, and about 190 trains leave the trains around Sweden to leave or enter Gothenburg. The traffic code for Gothenburg Central Station is G, as it is the first station in Sweden to start with the G word.

The station was opened on October 4, 1858 and currently has 16 tracks.

The Central Station is part of the Gothenburg Transport Centre and the rest includes: Niels Ericsson Main Station, Queens Square and Centralhuset. The Niels Ericsson Main Station is a bus terminal at the central station with buses connecting cities outside Gothenburg. Queens Square is located right in front of Central Station, with a convenience store and a service centre for Västtrafik traffic. Centralhuset is a complex near Central Station with shops, restaurants, hotels and more.

Gothenburg Central Station is also the terminal, which makes it very easy to change trains, you only need to go from one platform to another. Therefore, there is relatively little text to read, because this is not a station that requires a lot of explanation, but a comfortable environment waiting for the train.

At a key strategic location at the mouth of the Göta älv, where Scandinavia's largest drainage basin enters the sea, the Port of Gothenburg is now the largest port in the Nordic countries.Gothenburg is home to many students, as the city includes the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. Volvo was founded in Gothenburg in 1927. The original parent Volvo Group and the now separate Volvo Car Corporation are still headquartered on the island of Hisingen in the city. Other key companies are SKF and Astra Zeneca. Gothenburg is served by Göteborg Landvetter Airport 30 km (19 mi) southeast of the city center. The smaller Göteborg City Airport, 15 km (9.3 mi) from the city center, was closed to regular airline traffic in 2015. The city hosts the Gothia Cup, the world's largest youth football tournament, alongside some of the largest annual events in Scandinavia. The Gothenburg Film Festival, held in January since 1979, is the leading Scandinavian film festival with over 155,000 visitors each year. In summer, a wide variety of music festivals are held in the city, including the popular Way Out West Festival.

Siberian train (Trans Siberia / Транссибирская магистраль, Транссиб)

Before you start using Russian trains, I hope you close your eyes and imagine:

You have been on the train for ten hours, but there are twelve hours to go. You have not boarded the train for a long time. Your carriage is swaying and climbing in a forest full of unknown streams under the vast Russian sky. Just now you passed through a city with golden domes gleaming in the sun. Time is elsewhere. You transcend the boundaries of time. You are drinking the 13th cup of tea and are discussing fate and eternity with strangers-even if you do not speak Russian.
