Innsbruck Central

Introduction

Innsbruck Central Station is the main railway station in Innsbruck and the capital of the Austrian Federal Tyrol. Opened in 1853, it is one of the busiest train stations in the country with approximately 25,000 passengers per day.

Platform

At Innsbruck Central Station, most trains depart from the platform (No. 1-7) and are divided into areas A, B, C and D. On the departure screen, you will see the various trains entering and leaving the station through these areas and the platform.

The train departs from the upper level, so there are two passenger passages under the platform that can be used to enter the train from the departure hall. However, when taking the train from Innsbruck Central Station, please pay special attention to which station area your train will leave.

When you face the platform from the departure hall, the passenger lane on the far left of the hall is the fastest route to the A area. The channel on the right enters zone C and zone D as quickly as possible. If your train departs from Area B, both passenger passages are available. If you start your journey in Innsbruck and your train departs from platform 21-22, you do not need to use any access as they can enter from the south side of the departure hall.

If your train is not listed on the departure screen, you can use the yellow "Abfarhrt" departure poster to see the details of its departure.

Transfer Information

If you need to transfer between stations when changing trains, you must use two passenger passages under the platform. Both passages are connected to each station via stairs, escalators and lifts, so you can easily find elevators at each station. If you change trains at Innsbruck Central Station, the subsequent train will depart from stations 21 and 22 and you will find the elevator at the end of station 1.

Linz Central

Introduction

Linz Train Station is a very easy to use station.

There is only one floor on the platform, but in order to reach stations 2 - 12 (used by most trains), you need to use one of the two passenger passages below the track.

Arrived by train:

When arriving by train, the entrance to the main passage is located between Zone A and Zone B (the platform is divided into zones). When arriving from Vienna/Wien, this is towards the rear of the train, so when you get off you can be behind you, but in front of the train arriving from Salzburg (and other places).

This main passage has a lift and an escalator, but there is another passage in the C / D area, accessible through stairs and escalators. When arriving by train, it may be the nearest exit / Oswego, but if you want to use the elevator, you may need to walk through its entrance.

This secondary route is an alternative route from the train to the main lobby. If you use it and want to connect to the tram in the city centre, please don't board the exit you will see on the main square.

The main square has an atrium - the upper level is located on the street, so you can access the main exit, taxi station and bus station. On the lower floors, access to the platform and the ticket office, you can use the tram - Straßenbahn.

When arriving by train, if you use the main access and want to connect to the tram, the tram stop will be in front of the end of the passage - follow the instructions to the Straßenbahn. If you want to enter a taxi stand or bus stop, you can board the street directly.

Depart by train:

When departing by train, if your train departs from platform 3 - 12, please use the main access.

If you have already arrived at the station and entered from the main entrance, or by taxi or at the bus stop, you will descend to the lower floor of the main building to access this passage.

Innsbruck (German: [ˈɪnsbʁʊk], Austrian German: [ˈɪnsbrʊk]; Bavarian: [ˈɪnʃprʊk]) is the capital city of Tyrol in western Austria and the fifth-largest city in Austria. Linz (, German: [ˈlɪnts]; Czech: Linec) is the third-largest city of Austria and capital and largest of the state of Upper Austria (German: Oberösterreich). It is in the north centre of Austria, approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) south of the Czech border, on both sides of the River Danube. The population of the city is 204,846, and that of the Greater Linz conurbation is about 789,811. In 2009 Linz, together with the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, was chosen as the European Capital of Culture. Since 1 December 2014 Linz is a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities (UCCN) network as a City of Media Arts. Cities receive this title for enriching the urban lifestyle through the sponsorship and successful integration of media art and involving society in these electronic art forms. Linz is well known for the Linzer torte, which is said to be the oldest cake in the world, with its first recipe dating from 1653.
